Luckily, I did get the chance to thank Erica Highberg, the director, who really did her homework in preparation for this reading. Not only did she get the actors talking about the topical nature of the play (they guessed I based the snake-oil politician John Winthrop on Mitt Romney during table work), she pushed them to make big, bold choices -- and that kept the conflict boiling during the reading.
